The term outbound logistics (also known as distribution logistics<\/a>) refers to all logistics processes in which goods are transported from their manufacturer or seller to their destination. The aim of outbound logistics<\/strong> is to ensure the highest possible availability of the goods in question at the lowest possible cost.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n \r\n

Inbound and outbound logistics are complementary parts of a holistic supply chain<\/strong>. Put simply, inbound logistics deals with the transportation of goods (raw materials, components, finished products, etc.) to the company itself. Outbound logistics, on the other hand, includes all sub-areas that deal with transportation away from a company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The destination of the outbound transport routes<\/strong> can be the end customer, but also an intermediary or another location of your own company. However, no matter who a delivery goes to, it has to go through a whole series of different steps before it arrives there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n \r\n

Before the required goods can make their way to their recipient, they usually go through several logistics processes.<\/p>\n\n\n \r\n

Goods in stock or produced goods are compiled according to the customer order. These are taken from stock in the desired quantity, for example. Further steps may be required downstream, such as certain value-added services<\/a> like labeling or consolidation of orders.<\/p>\n\n\n \r\n

The completed orders are then packed for shipping and prepared for the selected shipping method<\/strong>. The most appropriate packaging depends not only on the size and nature of the goods, but also on the selected shipping method in order to avoid damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, shipping by sea<\/a> requires different packaging than transport by truck. Special regulations must also be observed for international shipments<\/strong>, for example the IPPC standard for shipping wooden packaging.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Once an order has gone through all of the above steps, it is picked up by a transport service provider and sent on its way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
