Glossary
The WIN Charter designates a sustainability management system that may be particularly suitable for smaller organizations. It presents a self-determined commitment to sustainability and serves to demonstrate a company’s social, ecological and economic responsibility.
The Business Initiative Sustainability (WIN) is part of the sustainability strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg. By signing the WIN-Charta in April 2020, LGI Logistics Group International GmbH (hereinafter referred to as LGI) has committed itself to its economic, ecological and social responsibility.
The WIN-Charta of the State of Baden-Württemberg is to date the only sustainability management system in Germany and represents a voluntary commitment by companies to sustainability. It is based on suggestions made by the Initiative Circle of the Economic Initiative for Sustainability (WIN), which was set up as part of the Baden-Württemberg sustainability strategy. By signing the WIN-Charta, companies make a clear commitment to their economic, ecological and social responsibility.
The WIN-Chara consists of a total of twelve guiding principles that formulate common basic values and offer points of reference for implementation. Three of these guidelines are named, and the focus is on them. By signing the charter, companies commit themselves publicly to the values formulated in the guidelines as well as the goals derived from the guidelines. Likewise, when signing the WIN-Charta, the companies already name a Baden-Württemberg WIN project from their region that they wish to promote.
Prof. Dr. Bernd Widmann, Head of Corporate Legal & Compliance and Member of the LGI Executive Board, signed the WIN-Charta of the State of Baden-Württemberg in April 2020. LGI thus acknowledges its responsibility and identifies with the region in which it operates.
LGI focuses primarily on the following three guiding principles of the WIN-Charta, according to Widmann:
From autumn 2020, LGI will support the nature conservation project “Waldweide” in the Herrenberg municipal forest – istrict Gültstein and thus in the area of the company’s headquarters. Galloway cattle graze on an area of around seven hectares in the Herrenberg municipal forest during the summer months, creating a light pasture forest. The Galloways are thus making a historically significant form of forest use visible and tangible for visitors to the Schönbuch nature park.
