App supports logistics process
LGI handles the on-site logistics of high-quality measuring instruments for the customer Keysight Technologies. To support internal processes, we have developed and implemented an app to manage the high-quality reusable boxes.
At the Böblingen site, the measuring instruments go to the Keysight Service Center for calibration and/or repair after receiving the goods. They are then packed by LGI and shipped worldwide.
For this purpose, the original boxes are stored in the incoming goods area in order to be reconnected to the device when the goods are dispatched during packaging. The management of the boxes in stock and the documentation of the quality status was previously a manual process by means of paper receipts and recording via an Excel spreadsheet.
Together with the operational processing, LGI’s “Process & Technology Solutions” (PTS) department developed an app in a joint project and implemented it to make the process more efficient and paperless.
In the meantime, the app has been in daily use for several months and has proven itself. It also provides both the LGI logistics team and the customer with more transparency than in the previous process. The advantages have convinced the customer, so that they are working together on the further development of the app in order to roll it out worldwide at Keysight.
